School Profile

Mountain Road Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade with an average enrollment of approximately 400 students. Class sizes range from 16 to 27 students, depending upon the grade level and section. Students participate in art, physical education, or music each day. They also receive regular lessons in the media center and guidance lessons from the school counselor. A framework for developing future productive citizens is also followed. The guidance counselor uses a framework which outlines those character traits which are believed to be critical for success after students leave the school setting. A spectrum of services exists for those students receiving services relative to special education. Outside of the general education classroom, students who qualify for AIM (gifted) also receive an appropriate curriculum tailored to meet their individual needs through a resource setting. The attendance rate has remained consistent for the past four years at an average of approximately 97% annually.  Mountain Road ES offers many opportunities for students to be involved in activities beyond academics, such as, Jr. BETA Club, School Council, Science Olympiad, Technology Club, Reading Bowl, Academic Bowl, and more.  MRES is a small, community school where all stakeholders feel like part of the Cougar family.
